Boulder, CO 80304

JANUARY 3, 2014   7:00 – 9:00 pm

CREATIVITY is the theme for our first Tap Into Transformation of the New Year!

Creativity is part of our heritage as created beings. The divine expressed creativity when life itself was manifested. We are privileged to do the same… to create life from our own, whether it is our everyday goings on or music, dance, art works, or any other unique thing that is part of who we are individually and as a community.

What is waiting for you to dive into it? What are you yearning to dive into? When do you feel truly creative? What is the most creative thing you have done? We invite you to help us celebrate the creativity inside us all.

Come and be part of a dynamic community that tap dances together, sings together, dines together, and this month will dive into creativity and spark imagination.

Join husband and wife duo Dr. Jeannine Goode-Allen and Dr. David Sharp in an evening of transformational song, poetry and tap dancing in our gorgeous and inspiring Viriditas Studio in North Boulder. You will laugh, smile and stomp your feet while feeling the joy of moving your body and opening your heart to awe, wonder, beauty, gratitude and more.

Our world so needs each of us to step out onto the stage of life and make manifest our great potential. Experience us as we pave the way to do this by exhibiting the power of Divinity In Action through our spectacular and fun gifts.

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity, in a creative community, to share and honor your own gifts, or be inspired to dive into new ones! We will teach you tap steps, and with these tools, we will journey into our hearts to praise, complain, thank and bless. We will create rhythms, poetry, and prayers with our feet, our voices and our bodies, individually and as a group.

Sharpettes and Annie Ruth’s Truths, December

I began creating what I call Sharpettes over 30 years ago. As a speaker and writer they became my own way of sharpening my understanding of the meaning, power, and energy of a single word. I am sharing them publicly now in hopes that you will enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

The first line is the word.
The second line defines or describes the word twice, 4 syllables for each attempt. You may place a comma or semi-colon between each attempt. So, the second line has a total of 8 syllables.
The third line is a simile. It always begins with the word “Like”, and paints a picture of the word in 10 or 11 syllables.

On some Sharpettes the 4th or 5th syllable of the third line will rhyme with the word on the first line itself. This can yield another insight into the word chosen, and provides a unique and fun poetic challenge.

Enjoy!
David

Annie Ruth’s Truths are my renderings of folk wisdom and country common sense, gained from a lifetime of listening to my mom, who has a unique way with words, as well as a witty, joyous and playful attitude to go with it! Always fun or sassy, they tell the truth and can make you laugh, shake your head and go “Hmph!” or even make you shout, “Whaaat?”

Power For Life Now, December Newsletter

December’s Tap Into Transformation was a fun and inspiring evening of tap dance, poetry and deep reflection. It featured guest artist Gary Grundei. He and Jeannine played a wonderful classical piano piece by Rachmaninoff… both of them playing on the same piano at the same time! As our theme was “connection” we concluded the evening with a contemplative time to draw a picture of what connections might be calling to us now and into the future.

This time of year is especially ripe for being conscious of the connections in our lives, especially our family and loved ones as well as our connection to Spirit. I believe we come from God and that our ultimate purpose is to find our way back to God, enjoying our life with the Creator and deepening into all that it means. In doing so, we become more clearly and consciously what we are meant to be. In turn we use our gifts, skills, talents and virtues in service to others.

As we do this, our years, whatever they are, are long enough to help humanity itself grow. As we continually seek to deepen our soul and expand our spirit, growing in faith and light, our efforts reflect the divinity within – and the world grows, filled with ever increasing divine light through our good works and acts of love. We may not notice it, but as Ghandi said, “ Almost everything you do will be insignificant, but it’s very important that you do it anyway.”

As we let our lights shine we will see it reflected in the smiles and nods of the head of others… even in the double takes of those surprised at receiving kindness from a stranger.

ShiningHeart

Even if we do not have physical gifts to give everyone in this holiday season, we can give the gift of who we are, letting God’s spirit flow through us to bless others, just by staying conscious and alert to our joyous connection to Spirit. And, that we can give anytime, to anyone.

May you have Power For Life Now,

David

Looking back.

I have spent several weeks this year reading through material which I have created through the years – material that goes back all the way to my college days. The life changes I have experienced over the past decade have brought me to a new phase of my life’s journey and I have the time to deeply review my life and contemplate where I am going.

Much of the material I looked through was undeveloped; bits and pieces of writing I had let sit idle for years; unpublished pieces that I had put away for later; and ideas that were meant to be fleshed out at some point. It all seemed to be calling me… and I responded. I had a long shelf full of music, songs, poems, journals and spontaneously written scribblings on odd pieces of paper and pads I had purchased through the years. Before I began to review this material, I didn’t remember what was in most of the folders and journals. I had only vague memories of some of the things I had written and and was curious to find out what was in them.

pile of old writings

As I read I began to remember when, where and under what circumstances I had written a lot of the material. Some I didn’t remember at all. The only way I recognized it at all was because it was in my handwriting. I realized a wonderful gift was being given to me. With great fascination and surprise, I knew that I was no longer the man who had written those things.  But I also recognized that THAT man had something to give me. I also realized I had something to give him!

Some of the writing was useful, some insightful, and some funny. Some things I read I couldn’t believe I had written it, and didn’t agree with it anymore. Other pieces of writing needed major revision before I included them in my active file, and still others were deeply insightful and inspired and gave me goose bumps.

The man I use to be gave me the priceless gift of looking into the mirror of time at who I use to be, how I thought, how my mind worked, what interested me, and what I focused on. I saw clearly that I had been on a trajectory that made sense, considering what I had become, both professionally and personally. It was as if I had been shot out of a bow and the arc of my destiny could be seen.

I could not be the man I am today without the man I use to be. I found myself having compassion for who he was… his faults, fears and weaknesses. But I also found myself celebrating his commitment to being a person of love and light, wisdom and joy…even back in college! A very special gem was that I found the lyrics to the very first song I wrote – when I was 14 years old! It was about how God created all people in love and that we should all love each other regardless of how we look or where we come from.

“David past” gave me a grand look at myself through a different lens. And the gift I have given to him… is that I can use a great deal of his writing going forward. I thank that man whom I use to be… for it is he who allows me to be the man I am now.

Affirmation
Each time I grow in love gain new insight, and increase in wisdom… I become a new person.

Prayer
Thank you, Mighty Spirit, for allowing me to learn new things, to become more loving and compassionate, and to share my heart with the world around me, even as I am receiving the gifts and blessings the world has for me.

May you have Power For Life Now,
David

The December Tap Into Transformation theme is, “CONNECTION”.

What do you want to connect to? Who do you want to connect with? What is calling you? Have you been afraid? Why? We will focus on just that – getting in tune with places and people we need to connect with and tapping to The Who’s song, “Getting in Tune.”

“I’m singing this note ‘cause it fits in well with the way I’m feeling.
There’s a symphony that I hear in your heart sets my heart a-reeling.
But I’m in tune, right in tune…I’m in tune, and I’m gonna tune right in on you.”

Come and be part of a dynamic community that tap dances together, sings together, dines together, and this month will connect in a unique way.

Join husband and wife duo Dr. Jeannine Goode-Allen and Dr. David Sharp and guest artist Gary Grundei in an evening of transformational song, poetry and tap dancing in our gorgeous and inspiring Viriditas Studio in North Boulder. You will laugh, smile and stomp your feet while feeling the joy of moving your body and opening your heart to awe, wonder, beauty, gratitude and more.
